Special Education Law

Updated: Dec 8, 2018

Having worked as an Impartial Hearing Officer for the Connecticut Department of Education's Bureau of Special Education for many years, I understand what the law requires school districts to provide special education students. Here is one example of a Final Decision & Order that I wrote as an Impartial Hearing Officer.

Once my Final Decision & Order was issued, the Greenwich Board of Education appealed it.

Here is the federal district court ruling dismissing the Greenwich Board of Education's appeal, affirming my Final Decision & Order.

In my current practice, I now represent students fighting for the free, appropriate, public education to which they are entitled. If you or someone you know needs help in this area, please contact Catherine Spain, LLC.
